Marvis Ione Landburg, age 86, died on Friday, October 14, 2022, in Fargo, ND. Marvis was born on February 9, 1936, in Hunter, ND, to Lillian and Sam Ege. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arthur, ND, and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Fargo. She graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in 1954 and Moorhead State College in 1959. She earned an Elementary Education Degree and taught school in Circle Pines, MN, Faith Lutheran Church Kindergarten in West Fargo, and Fargo Public Schools.
She retired in 2001 after teaching for 19 years at Carl Ben Eielson Elementary School in Fargo. Her teaching career and former students were memories she treasured throughout her life. Marvis received many awards, including the Fargo Education Association Golden Apple Award, Modern Woodman Community Service Award, and Who’s Who Among America’sTteachers. She made a lasting impression on former students. Throughout the years, she was invited to and attended many former students’ high school graduations and weddings.
Marvis married Ted Landburg in 1959, and they divorced in 1983.
After retirement, she devoted many hours to volunteer work. Marvis was a member of the Fargo Retired Teachers’ Association and the North Dakota Retired Teachers’ Association. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fargo, where she was involved in many church programs. She was a member of a lay ministry visitor program called BeFrienders.
Above all, Marvis loved Jesus and lived her life with faith. Her faith gave her family hope. She had a profound impact on all of the lives she touched. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did.
She was everyone’s friend and always had a smile and encouraging words. She will be greatly missed by all.
Marvis is survived by two children, Stuart (Julie) Landburg of Fargo and Gail (James) Neumann of Champlin, MN. She has three grandsons, Chris (Alex), Andy (Billie), and Matt. Her grandsons brought much happiness to her life. She also has three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Courtnay, and Aiden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Edna, and brothers, Edward, Duane, and Howard.
