Marlys Jean (Hauge) Anderson, 84 of Fargo ND climbed the stairway to heaven on April 16th, 2019.
Marlys was born to Lillian (Belter) and Melvin Hauge in Grafton, ND on August 29, 1934. She grew up in Grafton ND and attended Grafton Public Schools. On April 26, 1951 she married Richard “Dick” Anderson and moved to Camp Rucker, Alabama to begin their married life together. God blessed her with 68 years of marriage and 4 children. Marlys worked at Peggy Lee's Drive-In, Jay's Studio, and the majority of her working years working with Dick at Melvins Furniture and M&R Terrace.
Marlys had a light about her. Her soft voice, gentle nature and smile touched everyone she met. She loved visiting with people and being with family. She made everyone feel comfortable. Marlys was known for her caramel rolls, banana chocolate chip muffins, macaroni salad and she always made room for any extra guests at her table.
Marlys and Dick enjoyed morning walks together. Marlys enjoyed sewing, knitting dish cloths, ceramics, decorating, playing cards, curling and going to Birthday Club. She was blessed with memories made with family and friends at their lake cabins at Lake of the Woods and Lake Ida. Marlys and Dick spent winters in Naples, Florida for many years. Marlys treasured all her friends and enjoyed the memories and time with them.
Marlys is survived by her loving and devoted husband Richard Anderson; children, Bunnie (Mike) Messelt, Kristi (Jeff) Larson and Mark (Pam) Anderson; son-in-law, Tim DeSautel; grandchildren, Matt (Sandy) Johnson, Jeremy (Randi) Johnson, Megan Johnson, Molly (Chad) Olson, Jill (Cody) Miller, Katie Fischer, Heidi (Jason) Lang, Jared (Nicole) DeSautel, Haley Larson, Bill Anderson (Fiance Whitney Conmy), Joshua (Amber) Pulst, Brandon Pulst, and 13 great grandchildren.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Signe “Skippy” DeSautel; and grandsons Louis Anderson and Luke Larson.
A Prayer service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 7 PM at Hope Lutheran Church, South Campus in Fargo ND, with visitation from 5-7 PM. The Celebration of her Life will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, April 23rd 2019, at Hope Lutheran Church- South Campus, Fargo ND, with visitation starting 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials can be provided to Churches United for the Homeless, 1901 1st Ave N, Moorhead, MN 56560.
