Marlies Schultz, 83, of Fargo, ND, passed away April 25, 2020 in her home, with her loved ones by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on September 21, 1936 in Prussia. She moved to Hamburg, Germany and eventually made her way to the United States in 1955. She lived with family in Valley City, ND.
Marlies married George Schultz on September 16, 1956. She attended school for accounting. Marlies and her family moved to Fargo, ND, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Fairmont Creamery in Moorhead, MN.
Marlies and George had three children, which she then stayed home to care for them. The family enjoyed playing Yahtzee or as Marlies would call it “Kniffel” which is German for Yahtzee.
She returned to work, working for Dakota Clinic. She was known for her earrings, as she had a pair for every holiday and occasion. She retired in 2001.
After retirement, Marlies enjoyed reading and doing the daily Jumble. She liked to watch mysteries and game shows. She was a great knitter, she made blankets and scarves for her children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking and baking for her loved ones.
She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, and a member of the Marlies Club that met yearly in Willmar, MN.
She is survived by her children; Carolyn Perez, Joanne (Pat) Kovash, George Schultz Jr., grandchildren; Anna (Mike) Rudnick, Carlos Perez II, Ramon Perez and Charlotte Kovash, sisters; Gerda Greifendorf and Lieselotte Wolffe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George.
