Marlene Pearson

Marlene (Ramstad) Pearson of Fargo passed away on Saturday, May 20 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo at the age of 87.

Marlene was born on April 11, 1930 in Westfield Township, Steele County, North Dakota, to Ole and Ruth (Anderson) Ramstad, the fourth of five children. She attended country school and then high school in Sharon. Marlene moved to Fargo in 1947 to attend Interstate Business College. She married Wesley B. Pearson (Merchant’s National Bank) in 1961. The couple made their home in Fargo, and had two children, Jill and Wade. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, three older brothers (Elmore, Harold, Orell) and one younger sister (Adrienne). She is survived by her children, two sisters-in-law, and two nieces.

Before her marriage, Marlene worked as a secretary at Northern Improvement Company. She was a talented seamstress and sewed clothing items for herself and others her entire life. For many years she sewed costumes for the Halbeisen School of Dance’s annual recital. She worked for several years as a seamstress at Wedding World in Fargo, and also had a number of private clients.

Marlene enjoyed gardening and was known for making gifts of dried apples and cherry pies from her trees. She played golf and bridge, and loved attending plays and operas with friends. She was involved with PLS and other seniors’ groups, and was active until her death in several bridge groups.

A memorial reception will be held at a later time.
