Marjorie Oma Marr beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Innovis Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. Marjorie Oma Wangberg was born on April 22, 1920, on the family farm in Norman County, Halstad, Minnesota, to John and Marion (Lewis) Wangberg. As a young girl, she enjoyed traveling by train to visit relatives in the east. She attended Wide Awake Country School and graduated from Halstad High School. She completed the business program at Interstate Business School at Fargo, North Dakota. She worked as a public stenographer until her marriage to Willis Marr in 1942. Marjorie and Willis lived on the east coast while he served in the United States Navy during WW II. Upon his discharge, they lived in Elgin, North Dakota. She was employed at the Elgin Medical Clinic by Dr. Jacobson. Then the family moved to Jamestown, North Dakota, where she completed training and worked as an X-ray technologist at Jamestown Hospital. In 1957, the family relocated to Lodi, California. Marjorie was a secretary for the Lodi Public School District. In 1959, the family returned to North Dakota. Marjorie served as a secretary in the Fargo Public School District, until her retirement in 1988. During that period, she held secretarial positions at Emerson Smith, Lewis and Clark Elementary and Madison Elementary. Her interest in education continued through her association with the Fargo Public Schools Retired Teachers Organization. Over the years, Marjorie was involved in a variety of organizations: American Legion, Messiah Lutheran Church circle, and Retired Teachers. She loved interacting with her three grandchildren at all of the stages of their lives. Her interests varied from sewing, knitting, completing crossword puzzles, flower gardening, shopping and luncheons with friends. She belonged to St. John Lutheran Church then Messiah Lutheran Church, in Fargo. Marjorie loved to visit with friends and family throughout the United States. She especially enjoyed her winter trips to Green Valley, Arizona. Recently, she moved to an independent living apartment at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo. She valued making new friendships as well as keeping her old friendships. Marjorie and Willis were married for 41 years. Willis died April 6, 1984, at the age of 62. Marjorie is survived by her two children, Lynn (Virginia) of Fargo, ND and Patricia (Ronald) Teschner of Wahpeton, ND; three grandchildren, Jonathan Marr and Alison Marr of Fargo, ND; and Aaron Teschner of Waite Park, MN; her sister, Olive (Michael) Heller, Green Valley, AZ; her brother, Louis Wangberg, Plantation, FL; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Wilder, Lodi, CA and Janet Mc Dougell, St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis; sister, Jean King; brother-in-law, Lyle Marr; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Hieb and Bernyce Buckley. Funeral Service: Sunday, February 22, 2009, at 1:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
