Marjorie Mae Johnson Brown, 92, of Fargo, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Rosewood on Broadway with her husband and daughters at her side. Marjorie was born April 10, 1924 to Dolpha (Carlson) and Phillip Johnson at their farmstead in Rothsay, Minnesota.
Marge graduated from Rothsay highschool and attended Interstate Business School. She was united in marriage to David Earl Brown (Fergus Falls, MN) on September 4, 1948 in Astoria, Oregon. David and Marjorie lived in Astoria for one year before returning to Fergus Falls, MN. Shortly thereafter they moved to Fargo, North Dakota where they made their home and raised their family. Marge worked outside the home while raising her family; she had various business related jobs and then worked 20 years for Sears Department Store. Marjorie and David joined First Methodist Church in downtown Fargo in the early 1950’s and then became early members to a new church affiliate location in north Fargo at Faith United Methodist Church. Her faith community membership spanned over 60 years. She was very involved in the church and loved the Lord.
Marge was a gracious hostess, offering her home, love, and freshly baked goods to visitors. She was especially known for her delicious grandma’s hotdish, brown bread, and numerous sweet bars, cakes and cookies. She tended to her home and garden with loving care. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, David; two daughters, Susan Boman (Duluth, MN), Deborah (John) Schuhmacher (Minneapolis, MN); grandsons, Ryan (Amy) Boman and Christopher Boman (Duluth, MN); her beloved great-grandson Peter, and great-grandson number two to be born in August. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. Marge was tenderly supported and loved by many family and friends in her last stages of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James “Jim” (LaVerne) Johnson and Eugene “Beanie” (LaVon) Johnson, and son-in-law, Peter Boman.
