Marion Luella Schauer, 84, of Fargo passed away peacefully in her home July 1, 2017 under the care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Marion was born at home on the farm in Ashley, ND, December 14, 1932 to August and Ida (Miller) Schauer. Marion attended Ashley Country School 1st through 8th grade and 9th grade at Ashley High School. Marion left school to work for the Selective Service for 3 years. She enrolled at Capital Commercial College in Bismarck, ND 1955-56, where she took business classes.
Marion moved to Fargo in 1956 to work for Northern States Power Company. She married J. Bruce Miller June 17, 1958. Together they owned and operated Miller’s Steam Magic carpet cleaning business for 17 years. Marion began work in 1980 at St. Luke’s Hospital Central Processing Department where she worked until her retirement in 1996.
Marion spent her retirement years traveling, baking, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and volunteering at Fargo First Assembly of God, Great Plains Food Bank, Share House, and Lutheran Social Services.
Marion is survived by her children, Rebecca Rose, Joseph Miller (Kim Tyson), John Miller (Thania Cadet), Debra (Ron) Stevens, and Michelle (Ken) Enockson; brother, Duane (Luella) Schauer; grandchildren, Amber (Garry) Scroggs, Michaela (Travis) Tallman, Lindsey (Ryan) Isdahl, Nolan (Diane) Stevens, Heather (Joshua) Smith, Derek (Lindsay) Stevens, Abigail Enockson, Isaiah Enockson, and Adin Enockson; six great grandchildren and three more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Ida Schauer, and husband, J. Bruce Miller in 2002.
Marion was beloved by all who knew her. She was a quiet calm presence in times of crisis and overflowed with generosity. She and her husband, Bruce, were always ready to open their home to anyone in need of help. Marion had a quick, sly sense of humor and always looked on the bright side of every situation. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She will be greatly missed.
