Marion Larson, 90, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Eventide in Moorhead, MN.
Marion Shirley Stolp was born January 8, 1924, in Milroy, Minnesota, daughter of Arthur and Eleanor (Brakke) Stolp. She grew up and attended school in Milroy and graduated from high school in 1941. She attended Mankato State Teachers College from 1941-1943. She earned a two year teaching degree and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Moorhead State Teachers College.
Marion married Maynard Larson July 3, 1948, in Milroy, Minnesota. She taught a total of 30 years in elementary education in both Minnesota and North Dakota. Teaching and working with children was the “love of her life.”
After retirement, she enjoyed volunteer work with Fargo Senior Citizens. She also worked at the MeritCare gift shop, taught Sunday school and Bible school at Peace Lutheran Church for many years, and served on the Altar Guild. She was interested in her grandchildren’s sporting events, Sean’s hockey and football and Elisha’s volleyball and Nathan’s soccer and track.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard (Lars) Larson and daughter, Judith Hoffman. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Scholle (Craig), Fargo, ND; son, Gregory Larson (Gloria), St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Sean Hoffman (Maren), Edina, MN; Elisha Hoffman, New York, NY; Chad Kosin (Lisa), Holmen, WI; and Nathan Scholle, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Nora, Mae, and Henry Hoffman, and Matthew, Noah, Natalie and Cooper Kosin.
