Marilyn Diane (Thompson) Larson, a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in Fargo on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the age of 89.
Marilyn was born on March 1,1935 in Moorhead, MN to parents George and Clara Thompson. She grew up in Moorhead with her 5 siblings and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1953. Marilyn met Dale R. Larson after he bought the 1955 Chevy she had been saving to buy. After Dale’s honorable discharge from the Army, he and Marilyn were married on August 27, 1955. She and Dale had so many adventures together: traveling the world, spending winters at their home in Sun City West, AZ and making friends wherever they went. But their favorite place was their beloved lake home on Pelican Lake, with their family and friends. Marilyn relied on her faith, prayer and positive thinking to navigate the ups and downs of life, and this philosophy was evident in her many activities, including her daily walks, delicious cooking and knowledge of natural home remedies, as well as her volunteer work with 4H and at Plymouth Congregational Church.
Marilyn was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Joyce Nesting, brothers Dale and Richard Thompson, infant daughter Linda, daughter SueEllen and daughter and son-in-law Gail and Joe Larson and grandchildren Amy and Eric Larson.
Marilyn’s memory lives on in her husband of 69 years, Dale Larson (Fargo), son and daughter-in-law Steven and Shauna Larson (Glyndon), grandchildren Elizabeth Larson (Nashville, TN), Chris Larson (Fargo), Bryan Larson and Kendra Lewellyn (Moorhead) and Callie (Larson) and Austin Burns (Minot). Marilyn also has 4 great-grandchildren: Ellia, Ian and Noa Larson (Nashville) and Colter Burns (Minot). Also surviving Marilyn are her brother Terry (Sandy) Thompson (Elma, WA) and sister Janet (Neal) Johnson (Fresno, CA).
Marilyn and her husband, Dale's service will be held together.
