Marian Elaine Sateren

Marian Elaine Sateren, 87, of Fargo, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Marian was the first child born to Ann Swenning Knudson and Warren Knudson in Taylor, a town in western North Dakota near Dickinson. Sister Marlys arrived a few years later. When she was young, her father became ill and moved to the Veterans Administration Home in Cheyenne, WY. Her mother ran the creamery in Taylor, which they lived above. With the help of family and friends in the close knit community Ann cared for her young girls. They travelled often to visit her Dad in Wyoming, her mother driving a rambler and camping along the way. Marian graduated from Taylor High School. When Marian's father died, her mother moved the family to Fargo, ND. Marian attended the Sisters of St. Josephs School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She worked at St. Johns until she met and married Bernard Sateren in 1952. They moved to Grand Forks where Bernie worked for the Internal Revenue Service and Marian worked as a nurse in the recovery room at St. Michaels hospital. Lee was born in 1953, a year later Leslie, five years later Cory and 4 years later, Warren. They lived in Grand Forks until 1968 when Bernie was transferred to Fargo. Marian raised her family and worked for several years in the domestic department of Herbst department store. She went back to school to resume her nursing career. She worked for many years in the newborn nursery at St. Johns hospital. Bernie and Marian bought a vacation home in Ashland, WI near Lake Superior and enjoyed spending time near their son Cory's family. After Bernie's death, Marian moved to One Oak Place in Fargo. Most recently she lived at Whispering Creek Apartments in south Fargo.

Her daughter, Lee, and her husband, Lynn, live in Billings, MT. Her grandson, Peter, lives in Billings and her granddaughter, Gretchen, in Great Falls, MT. Her daughter, Leslie, and her husband, Dave, live in Fargo. Her grandson Neal, his wife, Sarah, and great granddaughter, Scarlet, live in London, England. Her grandson, John, and his wife, Amanda, live in Boston as well as her grandson, Tom. Her son Cory, his wife, Camile, and grandson, Paul, live in Ashland, WI. Granddaughter Kaia, is a student at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Her son, Warren, lives in Montreal, Canada.
