Marian Rutherford

Marian J. Rutherford, 90, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Marian Jeanette Simensen was born April 6, 1917, in Grandin, North Dakota, daughter of Carl and Mable (Elliot) Simensen. She attended grade school in Grandin and went on to Jamestown College. Marian married Henry C. Rutherford in 1937. Henry died in 1979. They had five children. As the children grew older, Marian went to work for Black’s and deLendrecies Department Stores in women’s fashions. Marian is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Louis) Benoit, St. Paul, MN; and her sister, Frances Stensrud, San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Chip Litten, Walnut Creek, CA; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion, Charles “Bud” Way, Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Kenneth; son, H. Charles; son, John Brian; daughter, Betty Litten; brothers, Elliot and Kenneth Simensen. The family would like to thank the nurses and care-givers of Bethany Homes. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
