Marguerite I. Larsen, 86, formerly of Fargo, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minnesota. Marguerite Isabelle Greguson was born January 11, 1923, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Alfred and Alfreda (Brekke) Greguson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, Class of 1942, and earned a BA in English and Physical Education from Augsburg College in Minneapolis in 1946. She also attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, where she met Martin Larsen. They were married on October 28, 1950 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Following Martin’s graduation from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, they served Lutheran parishes in North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, and Washington State. In 1988, Martin and Marguerite moved to Fargo, when Martin joined the staff at First Lutheran Church in Fargo as Visitation Pastor. They enjoyed their home on Tenth Street North and 22nd Avenue North for 18 years. After nearly 54 years of marriage, Martin died on June 19, 2004. Following a stroke in 2005, Marguerite moved to Cloquet, Minnesota, where she lived until she became a resident at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minnesota, where she lived until her death. She is survived by four daughters and two sons: Grace (John) Bent, Whitefish, Montana Gloria (Albert) Imamura, Honolulu, Hawaii Debra (Leland) Bottjen, Mesa, Arizona Philip (Darcey) Larsen, Akeley, Minnesota Timothy (Cristy) Larsen, Plymouth, Minnesota Mary Beth (David) Sutherland, Cloquet, Minnesota Grandchildren: Sarah Mitchell, Abigail Finley, Matthew, Andrew and John Larsen, Susan, Joshua and Jacob Sutherland, and Kjersten Larsen, and two great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Finley and Eva Mitchell; and two sisters: Gloria Johnson, Golden Valley, MN and Miriam Travis, Riverside, CA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 619 North Broadway in Fargo, with burial following at the Egelund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rochert, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Fargo, or Mount Carmel Ministries, Alexandria, Minnesota.
