Margaret A. “Peggy” Swanick, 80, of Fargo, passed away Monday, August 27, 2012, at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.
Peggy was born June 11, 1932, to Marie Brien in Devils Lakes, ND. She moved to Fargo as a young girl and attended school at Sacred Heart Academy.
Peggy married Russell S. “Speck” Swanick on May 13, 1961. After their marriage, she and Speck lived in Fargo, where she worked in the retail clothing business. She worked for Sgutt-Moodys and later for the Herbst Department Store, where she worked in the Ladies Apparel and Lingerie departments. Peggy loved fashion and jewelry and took great pride in her appearance. In 1966, she retired from the fashion world so she could stay home and raise their daughter.
Peggy and Speck loved life at the lake and owned a home on Pelican Lake for many years. She loved the water and spent countless hours in the lake having fun with her daughter, nieces and nephews. She was active in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and The Girl Scouts. Peggy loved flowers, crafts, reading, going out for lunch and her weekly trips to the beauty salon.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, MaryJo (Brad) Rust.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Speck.
MaryJo wishes to express her profound appreciation and gratitude for all of the prayers and care given to Peggy, and also to her during these last difficult months. Peggy had been in the care of Hospice and Edgewood Vista.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Funeral: Friday, August 31, 2012, 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo, ND.
Visitation: Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
