Marcus “Mac” Evenson passed away on Tuesday, Sept.15, at Sanford Palliative Care surrounded by family.
Mac was born April 3, 1922 at home on the farm in rural Mayville, ND to Even and Liv (Sveinsen) Evenson. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Mayville High School in 1940. In September 1942, he enlisted in the Army and fought with the 134th infantry 2nd Battalion, Headquarters Co.
He married Ragna Melvor on July 23, 1949 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Fargo, where he continued to be a member. They made their home in Fargo where they raised their family. He worked for lumber and real estate businesses in Fargo, retiring in 1984.
Mac is survived by his 2 daughters, Mary (Steve) Knowlton, Troy, MI; Sharon (Mitch) Ruud, Fargo, ND; his son David and his wife Beverly Bohn; granddaughters Jessica (Ben) Krause, Kristen Ruud and Lindsay Knowlton; brother Otto Evenson, sister-in-law Ally (Jimmie) Olson, and special niece Marianne Kalin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ragna and brothers, Edwin and Ralph.
