Marcella Eleanor Beck

Marcella Eleanor Beck (SWANSON) Passed away at age 96 on September 1, 2016 from respiratory complications at Bethany Nursing Home in Alexandria, MN.

Marcella was born to John and Hulda Swanson on November 4, 1919 in Fargo, ND, and was a longtime resident of Fargo. She attended and graduated from Central High School in Fargo and went on to attend and graduate from Dakota Business School in Fargo.

She married Clarence Beck in 1940 and they resided in Fargo except for a brief period in the early 1940's when they lived in Denver, CO during WW II.
Our Mother worked at the YMCA for 30 years as the office manager in Fargo. Prior to that she worked at the S & L clothing store on Broadway; Kresges Store on Broadway and also Boerth's Paint and Decorating (all in Fargo).

She was a lifetime member of St Marks Lutheran Church in Fargo. Her hobbies: She loved music, gardening, had a passion for quilts and most of all loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Beck in September 2007; daughter, Barbara Jean; one sister and three brothers.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Fleming, San Diego, CA and Carol Head, Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Marcee (Chris) Rodgers and two great-grandchildren, Keelin and Raice, Canby, OR; and fifteen nieces and nephews.
