Mae Pearl (Rasmussen) Kjaer died peacefully at Bethany at 42nd in the early morning of June 16, 2021.
Mae was born to Andrew and Stina (Jelderks) Rasmussen on October 4, 1924, in Badger, MN. She was the fifth child and grew up on the family farm near Badger, MN. She attended school there and worked on the family farm. She married Orville Kjaer On December 8, 1940, and they moved to Roseau, MN.
She worked as a cook at Nelson's Cafe as well as at the Roseau Hospital. She then moved to Fargo, ND, in 1967. She was a cook manager at St. Luke's hospital in Fargo. She retired in 1985 and then worked at Cash Wise for 20+ years. During the summers, she also worked in the concession business with her son DeWane and Daughter-in-law Aldora. She retired from Cash Wise around 2012. Mae and Orville enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Mae lived at Good Samaritan for six years before moving to Bethany on 42nd.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, three sisters (Laura, Helen, and Minnie), and one brother Eugene. She was also preceded in death by her sons DeWane, Danny, and Steve.
She is survived by her children Camilla Weiss, Apache Junction, AZ; Deb Knopp, Annandale, MN; and Tim (Rhonda), Burkburnett, TX; 4 grandsons Darin (Tonja); Dale (Kristin); Dana (Lara), and Derek (Kristina); 5 granddaughters Annette (Tom) Haigh; Julie Weiss; Chandra (Jeff) Lendobeja, Dani (Marshall) Lynnes and Shelby Kjaer as well as 19 great-grandchildren; her sister Carol Kjaer, Thief River Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews.
