Mabel Nellermoe, 96, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at ManorCare, Fargo, ND. Mabel Amanda Benson was born September 17, 1910, baptized and confirmed at the Wilmington Lutheran Church, rural Arnegard, ND. She attended the rural Benson Elementary School and graduated from high school at Watford City, ND, in 1928. Her parents, Charles A. and Betty (Swanson) Benson, as immigrants from Sweden, were homesteaders in the Watford City, Arnegard, ND, area. Following graduation in 1928, she traveled to the Red River Valley working as a domestic and then traveled to Gary, IN, where she was receptionist in a doctor’s office. One year later, she married John F. Nellermoe of rural Christine, ND, on June 28, 1929. They became life-long members of the Christine Lutheran Church; while there, Mabel served as WELCA President, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was active in quilting and in serving dinners. She, and her husband, farmed in the Hickson area, living in Cass County for 60 years, while raising eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Betty Bennson; one sister, Helen; three brothers, Carl Arthur, Oscar and Harvey; her husband, John; and two sons, Richard and Allan. Survivors include one sister, Ethel, San Dimas, CA; five sons, Kenneth, Tucson, AZ; Donald, San Antonio, TX; Roy, Hood River, OR; Howard, Gladstone, OR; John, San Antonio, TX; and one daughter, Betty Kay Hase, Hood River, OR. She also leaves 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral: Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Christine Lutheran Church, Christine, ND. Visitation: Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial: Christine Cemetery, Christine, ND.
