Mabel Barsten

Mabel (Bockwoldt) Barsten, 78, passed away from natural causes on February 3, 2008, in Fargo, ND. Mabel (Bockwoldt) was born on the farm in Grand Rapids, ND, July 12, 1930 to Ernest and Elsie (Klatt) Bockwoldt. She completed 8 grades of school and grew up in Grand Rapids, ND area. After she left home, she worked as a housekeeper in Valley City, ND. She was united in marriage to Wilton Barsten of LaMoure, ND on September 27, 1954 in Valley City, ND. They settled in the Black Hills of South Dakota until about 1960 before moving out west to Oregon follwing the footsteps of her younger sister Dolly. Around 1968 they moved back to ND and settled in Fargo where she spent the remainder of her years with Willie, her beloved husband of 54 years. Mabel was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest, and both of her parents. She is survived by her brothers, Emil (Josie) Bockwoldt, LaMoure, ND and Kenneth (Dorothy) Bockwoldt, Litchville, ND; sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Andrud, LaMoure, ND; Hilda (William) Muske, LaMoure, ND, Alice (Jack) Reuther, Jamestown, ND; and Dolly Juelke, Fargo, ND. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
