Lynn Marie Thorp

Lynn Marie Thorp of Fargo, ND, passed away on March 26, 2023, in Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
Lynn Marie Thorp was born on February 20, 1953, to Donald and Betty Thorp in Williston, ND. She graduated from Carpio High School in 1971 and Concordia College in 1975. She taught high school biology in Wolford, ND, for several years. She then returned to North Dakota State University and worked toward a Master’s in Computer Science. She went on to work for Great Plains Software (now Microsoft Software) until transitioning to the computer department at North Dakota State University. Lynn retired in 2008 secondary to challenges with mobility caused by her Multiple Sclerosis.
Throughout the years, Lynn worked several summers at Camp Metigoshe. She was also a long-time member of Peace Lutheran and enjoyed singing and playing guitar in their choir and small group band.
In 2011 she became unable to live on her own, and she moved into Manor Care (now Meadows on University). She resided there and enjoyed staff and friends until the current time. Lynn was a diehard sports fan following Concordia, NDSU, Fargo Red Hawks, Minnesota Twins, and Vikings.
Lynn kept a positive attitude in light of the struggles life with MS can bring. Finally, medical complications were too much of a fight, and the Lord has welcomed her home. Lynn is survived by her brother, Peter Thorp of Carpio, ND; sister, Becky Thorp, in Sioux Falls, SD; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Betty; sister, Carolyn; and numerous relatives.
No services are planned at this time, but a celebration of a life well-lived will occur this Spring or Summer.
