Lydia Linke

Lydia Linke, 94 died Friday March 30, 2007, at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Lydia Lena Katie Bultman was born to John and Christina (Kuester) Bultman on August 12, 1912 in Fulda, MN. She moved to the Wheatland, ND area with her family at the age of six. Lydia married Lloyd Lester Linke on October 29, 1931. They farmed in the Lynchburg and Wheatland, ND area until they moved to Fargo in 1947. Lloyd died in November 1957. Lydia worked in the Fargo area before getting her GED in 1959. She attended Wahpeton State and received her LPN license. Lydia worked for St. Luke’s (MeritCare) Hospital until she retired in 1977. She traveled after her retirement, eventually spending five months per year in Mesa, AZ. She enjoyed sewing quilts for each of her grandchildren, gardening, projects at her home in Fargo, as well as at West McDonald Lake, Dent, MN. She was a resident of Riverview Place, Pioneer House and Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND. Lydia is survived by two daughters, Nina (Larry) Coats, Merino, CO; Shirley (James) Grindberg, Dent, MN; daughter-in-law, Diane Zeck-Linke, Bismarck, ND; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; special nieces, Lorraine Weigelt –Black and Margie Linke-Scherbinske; nephew, Donald Linke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Harold; sisters, Wilma Weigelt-Harriman, Hatwig Frahm, Lane Bultman; brothers, Henry, Arthur and Paul Bultman. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Grace Lutheran Church or Elim Care Center. Funeral service: Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
