Lowella S. Bushaw, 84, of West Fargo, died Friday, October 19, 2018 in Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Lou was born on August 2, 1934 to Amedie and Delima Champagne in Red Lake Co., MN. She grew up on the family farm then moved to Thief River Falls, MN where she met Ronald Bushaw. Ron and Lou were married on October 6, 1953, in Brooks, MN.
Ron and Lou lived in several states throughout the Midwest finally settling in Moorhead, MN in 1967. Lou worked at several retail stores until Ron and she purchased and operated the Main Avenue Tastee Freez in Moorhead. Together they owned and managed several apartment buildings in the F-M area.
Ron and Lou enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends for many years. During retirement they liked to travel in their RV throughout the US. A trip to Copper Canyon, Mexico & Alaska were highlights of their travels.
Time spent with family was important to Lou. She loved flowers and gardening. Her specialty was canning dill pickles.She also loved sewing and quilting. She donated many quilts to the YWCA Women’s Shelter and the Slumberland Bed Giveaway. Lou was also an avid bridge player. Going out to breakfast after mass every Sunday with her special group of friends from Nativity Church in Fargo was a highlight of her week.
She is survived by daughter Peggy (Russ) Henegar, West Fargo, ND; four sons, Patrick (Bev) Bushaw, Como, CO, Perry (Kim) Bushaw, Hawley, MN, Paul (Kathy) Bushaw, Sauk Rapids, MN, and Peter (Val) Bushaw, Horace, ND; eight grandchildren, Heidi, Amber, Jeremy, Andrew, Mallory, Shanna-Lee, Michael, Allison, and 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents, one sister, and four brothers.
