Louise Erma Richter

February 12, 1929 — September 16, 2014

Louise Erma Richter (85) a resident of Touchmark at Harwood Groves in Fargo, ND, was born February 12, 1929 in Dickey County, North Dakota to Gustav and Christine (Oster) Richter. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Monango, ND and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, Merricourt, ND. She grew up and enjoyed life on the family farm near Monango.
Louise graduated from Monango High School. She attended the Normal and Industrial College in Ellendale, ND earning degrees in Secondary and Elementary Education with a major in Social Studies and a minor in English. She received her Master’s degree from Moorhead State University and completed post graduate classes at Fresno State College, Fresno, California; University of California, Santa Barbara; University of California, Riverside; and University of California, San Diego.

She taught in the elementary grades at Monango and Fargo, ND; Boone, IA; Houston, TX; Vandenberg Air Force Base, Lompoc, CA and San Bernardino, CA. She taught Sunday School at Peace Lutheran, Merricourt, ND; Trinity, Boone, IA; and Good Shepherd, Houston, TX.
She taught in the program for mentally gifted students in San Bernardino, CA, in addition to her duties as a 5th and 6th grade teacher. During her 39 year teaching career she taught all grades 1-6. Louise moved to Fargo in 1994 from San Bernardino, CA.

At the time of her death, Louise was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Louise is survived by her sister-in-law Ardeith Richter, Wahpeton, ND; two nephews, Michael Richter, Wahpeton, ND and Jason Richter, West Fargo, ND; two great nephews, Radin and Landis Richter, West Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wilbert Richter and Lawrence Richter; two sisters, Edna Richter, and an infant sister.
