Loreen “Leeby” Davenport, 93, of Fargo, ND died November 13, 2018 at her home.
Loreen Jane Leeby Davenport was born March 8, 1925, the eldest daughter of Horace and Edith Leeby. She attended Fargo schools graduating from Central High School in 1942 and continued her education at Francis Harrington School of Interior Design, in Chicago, IL. She then returned to Fargo for Architecture and Clothing & Textiles at NDAC (now NDSU).
She married Robert Davenport in November of 1946. As an Air Force wife, the family lived in several places in the United States and abroad.
Loreen utilized her many gifts working for International Harvester – Fargo, and managing: Window Wonder Lane – San Bernardino, CA and Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts in California, Montana and Turkey. After returning to Fargo in 1965 she managed Black’s Store Without a Name (Teen Shop), Crossroads, and Black’s Valley North, Mr. T’s and lastly, working for Career Fashions. She donated many hours to our communities in supporting her Sorority, Phi Omega Phi, Zonta International and the Fargo Chamber of Commerce.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Robert F. Davenport; parents, Horace B. Leeby and Edith (James) Leeby and her sister, Gayle Anderson of Edina, MN.
She is survived by her grateful children and their families; John (Carol) Davenport of Chicago, Claudia Davenport and Cathy (Darryl) Hummel of Fargo; four grandchildren: Tiffany (Karl) Kuelthau, John “JT” (Suzanne) Davenport. Kristopher (Kristin) Hummel and Joshua Hummel; six great-grandchildren:Taylor Kuelthau, Jack Kuelthau, Finn Hummel, Tanner Davenport, Rex Davenport and Sloane Davenport.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Homeward Animal Shelter, Fargo.
