Loraine L. Slotten, 79, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Loraine Lois Williams was born October 18, 1931 in Strathcona, MN to Walter and Clarys (Watson) Williams. The family moved to Ulen, MN when she was five years old. She attendend schools in Ulen and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1949. After high school, she attended Moorhead State College, where she received an Associate Teaching degree in 1951. She taught at schools in Appleton, Holloway and Moorhead, MN. Later in life, she was a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide. Loraine married Dale K. Slotten on December 26, 1953 at Faith Lutheran Church in Dwight, ND. They farmed near Dwight for several years. Throughout the years, they lived in several places. They enjoyed many years of retirement on Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids. They moved to Fargo in 1991. Loraine is survived by her daughters, Lori Manning (David Hackey), Billings, MT; Renee Schiermeister, Rapid City, SD; son, Kurt (Julie) Slotten, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jamie, Dustin, Amber, Eric, Michael, Lindsey and Amanda; step-grandchildren, Heather, Darren and Raeann; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Maurice (Bev), Alexandria, MN; and Robert (Dianne) Williams, Brookings, SD; sister, Marian (Fred) Bolmeier, Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law, Russell (Bev) Slotten; and Nick Lubrano; and sisters-in-law, Dulcie Slotten and Violet Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons-in-law, Doug Manning and Dan Schiermeister; brothers, John and Norman; and sister, Marjory Lubrano. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Olivet Lutheran Church. Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Monday, March 21, 2011 at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Burial: Dwight Lutheran Cemetery, Dwight, ND.
