Lois Gill

December 21, 1939 — April 3, 2010

Lois Jane (Nybakken) Gill, rural Wheatland, ND, passed away on April 3, 2010, at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit under the assistance of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was surrounded by her loving family. Lois Nybakken was born December 21, 1939, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Odvar and Esther (Sauer) Nybakken. She grew up in Fargo and was a 1957 graduate of Fargo Central High School, where she met her future husband, Leonard E. Gill. Lois and Leonard were married on May 9, 1959, and raised five children. Lois worked in retail most of her married life with the majority of those years at Osco Drug Company, retiring in 2005. After her retirement, she worked part-time for Coldwater Creek. Lois raised five children and also had many interests including, bowling, gardening, and spending summer vacations in Detroit Lakes with her family where she created countless memories for her beloved grandchildren. In the early years of her marriage, she enjoyed the annual trips to the Indy 500 and later, to the Nascar Races as well as traveling to many toy tractor shows with her husband of nearly 50 years. Most recently, Lois became a member of the Casselton Red Hats and formed many lasting friendships. Lois is survived by a son, Daniel Gill, Fargo; daughters, Linda Gill, Hawley, MN; Sheila (Nick) Perius, Twin Falls, ID; Brenda (Gary) Terwilliger, Andover, MN; Rhonda Gill, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Joshua and Chelsey Beaton, Nicholas Perius, Alexia and Alec Terwilliger, and Amy Gill; and two sisters, Joanne Tonn and Mary (Les) Nettum. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, LaVerne Smart. Memorial Service: 11am, Monday, April 12, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
