Lloyd Ulland, 81, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, December 22, 2008, at MeritCare Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Lloyd Rudolph Ulland was born Novemer 7, 1927, near Buxton, North Dakota, son of Martin and Sophie (Johnson) Ulland. He grew up and attended rural schools there. He farmed with his parents. Lloyd was in active duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On December 30, 1951, Lloyd married Lenore Pladson in Hatton, North Dakota. They lived in Fargo and he joined the Fargo Police Department in 1952, retiring in 1976. He operated Ulland’s Christmas Tree Lot for over 30 years. Lloyd was a life time member of the Fargo VFW and a member of Golden K Kiwanis and Edgewood Men’s Golf Club. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lenore, Fargo, ND; his children, Gary Lloyd (Connie) Ulland, Rochester, MN; and Kathy (Paul) Fraase, Bismarck, ND; brother, Earl Ulland (Gladys) Grand Forks, ND; and sister, Maxine Lillie, Long Beach, CA; grandchildren, Jesse (Andrea) Ulland; Janelle (Mike) Ryland; John, Ben and Tom Fraase; Lyndon (Cassidy) Lach and Courtney (Ryan) Ulvin; two great-grandchildren, Sophie Lach and Grant Ulland; and special family friends, The Jagims, Edith, Roger, Ryan, Karla, Ross and Rusel. Lloyd loved his family and they were his life. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church Foundation. Memorial Service: Saturday, December 27, 2008, at 10:00 AM, at Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND, at a later date.
