Lloyd “Ole” Hanson, Jr., 76, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo, surrounded by his family.
Lloyd Orris Hanson, Jr. was born to Lloyd and Jeanette (Fredrickson) Hanson on July 17, 1939 in Pelican Rapids, MN.
He grew up in the Pelican Rapids area and entered the U.S. Navy at a young age. Lloyd married Dorla Gronvold on Jan. 6, 1962, and together they raised their three children. He worked as a truck driver and Dorla would work as a Paraprofessional at Longfellow Elementary when the children were grown. They loved their children and grew with them.
Whether at home, working, fishing, hunting, or socializing, Lloyd’s “teaching moments” to his family will be cherished forever. He was a worker, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a true friend.
He is missed deeply by his family; but they were blessed to have him on this earth and are at peace knowing he will rest in Heaven.
Lloyd is survived by his wife; children, David (Wendy) Hanson, Baxter, MN; Ronda (Robert) Smith, Barnesville, MN; Matt (Nicole) Hanson, Dent, MN; grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsey, Joshua, Anna, Thea, and Landon; sisters, Janelle Swanholm and Vonda Henschke; brother-in-law, “Uncle” El (Faye) Gronvold; and was lovingly known as “Uncle Ole” to his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry Hanson; brothers-in-law, Kenny Swanholm and Larry Henschke; and sister-in-law, Doreen Carlson.
Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
