Lisa Jahnke, 48, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, after a nearly 3 year courageous battle with triple negative neuroendocrine carcinoma.
Lisa Jo Jahnke was born September 2, 1965 in Fargo, ND, to Robert and Barbara (Arnegard) Trieglaff. She grew up in north Fargo, graduating from Fargo North High School in 1984. She then attended Moorhead State University receiving a BS degree in Education and later went on to receive a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Saint Thomas. Lisa taught 23 years, most of which was in the Fargo Public Schools. The last 10 years of Lisa's teaching career was in Gifted Services.
Lisa was a member of the National Education Association, the North Dakota Education Association, and the Fargo Education Association. Lisa was also a devoted member of First Lutheran Church, Fargo and the FM Breast Friends group.
Lisa put her heart and soul into teaching and enjoyed finding ways to challenge her students and bring out their creativity. She loved spending time at the lakes and traveling with her family. She also had a strong and unwavering faith in God. Those who knew her will remember her as someone who was kind-hearted, passionate, and creative. She always put her family’s needs above her own. She fought a long and courageous battle and was positive to the end stating, “Even though we lost the battle, it doesn’t mean we didn’t win. We did win. We accomplished so much.” Her family and those who knew her will forever be inspired by the strength she lived by. Words cannot describe how greatly she will be missed.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Michael; daughters, Ashlyn and Amanda, both of Fargo; parents, Robert and Barbara Trieglaff, Fargo; sister, Kara (Mike) Scheer, Fargo; in-laws, Emery and Ann Jahnke, Detroit Lakes; Janel (Rod) Swenson, Fargo; Carol (Dan) Labernik, Fargo; Jane (Jeff) Gauthier, Elk River; and Jody (Steve) Hsu, Bismarck; and fourteen nieces and nephews. Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lloyd and Lorraine Arnegard and Lawrence and Florence Trieglaff.
