Lilah Margaret Jess, 82, of West Fargo, ND, died Monday, April 3, 2023, in Sheyenne Crossings Care Center in West Fargo, ND.

Lilah Margaret Halvorson was born on August 8, 1940, to Ole and Myrtle (Mustad) Halvorson in Sharon, ND. She graduated from high school in Hope, ND, in 1959. She married Ardale Allen Jess on April 30, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hope, ND.

Lilah was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She cared for and babysat many other children in her life. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and watching baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and the small-town communities where she resided. Lilah loved her family very much.

Lilah is survived by her children, Lori (Tim) Torgerson of Leonard, ND, Todd Jess of Fargo, ND, Scott Jess of Fargo, ND, and Jonie (Leo) Dignan of Horace, ND; grandchildren, Bradley (Suzanne) Hegvick of Reynolds, ND, Alyssa Hegvick of West Fargo, ND, and Sadie Dignan of Horace, ND; great-grandchildren, Avery, Corban, and Clara Hegvick of Reynolds, ND, and Emma Sauvageau of West Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardale Jess; parents, Ole and Myrtle Halvorson; brothers, Arlan Halvorson, Harold Halvorson, and Leland Halvorson; and many other dear family and friends.

A funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 11, at 2:00 PM, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM, at St Andrew Lutheran Church, West Fargo. Prayer service will be on Monday, April 10, at 7:00 PM, with a visitation at 5:00 - 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Hope, ND at a later date.

We would like to thank all of Mom's special caregivers at Sheyenne Crossings Care Center in West Fargo. Thank you for the care and support you gave to her and her family over the past few years.
