Lila died in her son’s home, surrounded by family on January 3, 2013 under the care of Hospice.
Lila A. Svobodny was born March 13, 1920 in Parshall, North Dakota to Carl and Anna Tatley. She graduated Moorhead High School, Class of 1938.
Lila was united in marriage to Frank Svobodny on February 3, 1941 in Moorhead. After living in Grand Forks and St. Paul, MN, Lila and Frank returned to the FM area in 1977, where she resided until her death.
She is survived by her children, Deanna (Robert) Haddock, presently residing in Whangarei, New Zealand; James (Linda) Svobodny, Moorhead, MN; Penny Hoiland, Wenatchee, WA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, sisters, Mabel Holm, Violet Hoff, Pearl DuRose, Norma Westby, Lavern Steinweg and brother Aldin Tatley.
A celebration of life will be held by the family in the spring.
