Leslie "Ike" Ross Larghe, the son of Lyle & Letha Larghe was born in Oelwein, IA on October 1, 1924. He spent his younger years growing up in Oelwein and Huron, SD. On January 1, 1944, Ike married Harriet Lucille Hanson in Huron, SD. They lived there until Ike entered the service. They moved to Mapleton, ND after his discharge from the service and also lived in West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead, Ottertail and New York Mills, MN. In WWII, Ike served in the US Army with the "Trailblazers" in Ordinance Disposal, receiving the bronze star. He traveled extensively after the war in Europe delivering military mail. Ike worked for West Fargo Stockyards for 40 years retiring in 1986. Ike was an avid Harley rider, he loved playing guitar, strumming along as Harriet played the piano. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors and at the lake. He loved tinkering with mechanical items and could fix almost anything. He always had the funniest stories and by far, the kindest heart... Ike, at the age of 86, was reunited with the love of his life on June 14, 2011. He is survived by his sons, Leslie (Rayla) Larghe, Virgil, SD; Jeff (Julie) Larghe, Perham, MN; daughters, Diane (Chubb) Germolus, Detroit Lakes, MN; Rita (Wayne) Farr, Rapid City, SD; Wendy (Wilt) Soderberg, Hutchinson, MN; and Kari (Kevin) Eide, Osage, MN. Missing him are 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one brother, Lloyd (Kay) Larghe, Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years; his parents; his brother, Lyle; sister, Lorraine; and grandson Lance. At Ike's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
