Leonard D. Otterson
We said goodbye to a Dear Man. Leonard Duane Otterson, 91, passed away in Fargo, ND on August 2, 2021, with his two daughters by his side.
Leonard was born in Minot, ND on December 2, 1929, to Leonard and Berniece Otterson. They moved to Fargo in 1941. Leonard graduated from Fargo Central High School.
Leonard married Janice Walker on September 9, 1949, at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. They had two sons and two daughters.
Leonard worked for a Women's Ready to Wear Store while going to Interstate Business College. In 1951, Leonard started working as a Painting and Decorating Contractor, then started his own business in 1957.
In 1955, the Otterson family became charter members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Leomard served on various boards, taught Sunday School, was on the usher team, arranged a yearly outing called "Take A Kid Fishing", bowled for the church bowing league, and attended weekly services.
Leonard enjoyed bowling, coin collecting, hunting, fishing, Boy Scouts, collecting birdhouses, chewing Juicy Fruit gum, playing cards and games, and especially loved spending time at their cabin on Tamarac Lake. Leonard was always eager to visit, listen, and learn from others. He treasured all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and spent as much time as he could with each of them and their activities.
