Leon Ray Pherson

Leon R. Pherson, 61, of West Fargo, ND, died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Leon was born July 17, 1954 to Ernest and Harriet (Carlson) Pherson in Fargo, ND where he was a lifelong resident. He was educated in the Fargo Public Schools graduating from Fargo North High in 1972. Leon attended and graduated from NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND for electrical and electronics. Leon went on to receive his BA in Electronics Engineering from Southwest State University in Marshall, MN.

In 1986, he married Holly Bartuska at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. They have one child.

Leon was employed by Siemens Medical Corp. since 1995, with his career ending in 2011 due to a medical disability. He was previously employed in the FM area.

Leon was a member of the Holy Cross Knights of Columbus chapter. He was a lifetime supporter and advocate of the Boy Scouts of America program as a member and leader in the FM area. Leon achieved the Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow, Vigil. In 2005, Leon received the District Award of Merit and Cubmaster Award.

Leon leaves his beloved wife, Holly; his son, Zane, West Fargo, ND; sister, Barbara (David) Drake, Thayer, NE; sisters-in-law, Betty (Lewis) Hodny; Sue (Paul) Hendrickson; Cindy (Larry) Schwartz; brother-in-law, Jack (Carolyn) Bartuska; mother-in-law, Rose Bartuska, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his father-in-law.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm followed by a Vigil Service at 7pm, Friday, May 6, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11am, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the church.

The Memorials are preferred to the family to be used at their discretion or to the Boy Scouts of America.
