Lenora "Linda" Kathleen Scheer

February 22, 1946 — July 26, 2021

Lenora Kathleen Scheer, “Linda” to all who knew and loved her, age 75, of Fargo, North Dakota, died suddenly in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin with family at her side.

She was a lifelong resident of Fargo, born to Peter Wilbur Lundquist and Frieda Emilia (Unterseher) Lundquist. Linda attended Fargo Central High School and graduated in 1964. She was united in marriage to Harris Dale Scheer on March 20, 1965, at her home church, Elim Lutheran Church, in Fargo. Continuing in the footsteps of her father, Peter, who was a barber, Linda attended New York Hairdressing in 1965 and was a licensed cosmetologist until 1980. She also helped at The Dutch Maid, the ice cream shop her mother owned in downtown Fargo.

Linda was employed at NDSU Dining Services, 1968-1971. Her primary employment was with Ben Franklin Middle School in Fargo, as part of the food-service staff. Linda retired (from Ben Franklin) several years ago, after more than 20 years of working there.

She and Harris were blessed with more than 45 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2010.

Linda remained a lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church, where she served on the church council (and was a former president), the funeral committee, and sang in the choir. She also organized the annual Elim rummage sale for years. Linda attended her children’s sporting and school events, including Robert’s cross-country meets and other community long-distance running events. She served in leadership positions in the Cubs Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Special Olympics, and the VA hospital. Linda loved her dog, Delta. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Linda enjoyed music and was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley. She loved her nieces and nephews from the Curtis family and treated them as her own children after their mother (Alberta) passed away. She will be remembered for being a friendly person who had a servant’s heart.

She will be missed by her five sons: Dr. Kurtis (Holly) Scheer, M.D. of Sturgeon Bay, Rev. Anton (Carol) Scheer of Mesa, AZ, Steven Scheer, Michael (Kara) Scheer, and Robert Scheer, all of Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, Katherine (Robert) Desotelle, Eleanore, Amelia, and Elizabeth Scheer, Kirstin (Andrew) Maltese and Kari (Matthew) Stachowiak, and Soren, Sawyer, and Areya Scheer; great-grandson, Grayson Maltese; and brother, John Lundquist of Lakewood, CO and the Curtis family.

Linda was preceded in death by her spouse; parents; sister, Alberta (Harold) Curtis; siblings-in-law, Caroline (Joseph) Becvar, Phyllis (Harold) Kautz, Jean (John) Cooper, Edward (Linda) Scheer, and Kent Scheer; and other relatives.

Her life will be honored with a memorial service on Friday, Aug. 6, 10 am, at Elim Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND, with Pastor Caroline Strand officiating. A luncheon will follow the memorial service, at the Sons of Norway–Kringen Lodge #4-25, in Fargo, ND.

Linda will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens beside her parents.
Memorials may be given in Lenora’s (Linda’s) name for Elim Lutheran Church, 321 9th St. N., Fargo, ND 58102.
