Leland Herman Delger was born November 27, 1925 to Herman and Martha (Solberg) Delger in Fargo. He attended schools in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1943. He served in the US Army from 1946-1947. Leland met Dorothy Geiszler at the Crystal Ballroom. They married on October 23, 1948. Leland attended NDSU, graduating in 1951, and worked as a structural engineer at the Los Angeles Unified School District in California.
Leland was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He liked to collect surveying instruments and golf clubs. He also enjoyed fly fishing, golfing and hockey.
Leland died peacefully at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley on August 29, 2013, with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughter, Suzanne and grandson, Ian, all of Fargo; sister, Beverly (Duane) Baker, Sabin, MN. Leland was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marcia, Juanita and Darlene.
Memorials are preferred to the NDSU Civil Engineering Department, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or the Olivet Lutheran Church Building Fund.
