Leander Clayton Reitan

Leander Clayton Reitan was born on August 31, 1924 on the family farm near Wild Rice, N.D. to John and Maria Reitan.

He attended Rural School District #42 and graduated from Moorhead High School. He later attended Wahpeton State School of Science. He began work as an electrician in 1947 and retired in 1988.

Leander married Helen Edna Rekken on January 14, 1967 at Messiah Lutheran Church Fargo, N.D. The couple moved to Langdon, N.D. in 1970 and returned to Fargo in 1973 to make their home. Helen passed away on November 12, 1995.

Leander was a member of the Sons of Norway Kringen Club, Fargo Golden K Kiwanis, IBEW Electrical Workers Local #1426 and was also a volunteer for the Emergency Food Pantry for many years. Leander was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1967.

Leander was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents; 9 brothers, John, Carlot, Joel, Carlot, Manfred, John, Randall, Albert and Orlando; and two sisters, Mary Halvorson and Florence Stricker.

Leander is survived by two sisters-in-law, Rosie Grindeland and Florence Holmen, and many nieces and nephews.
