LaVonne Elaine Carlson, 93, passed away on July 24, 2018. She was the daughter of Earl and Florence (Holmquist) Moug and was born at Ayr, ND.
LaVonne graduated from Ayr high school in 1943. She played on two state championship basketball teams. She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing. She was employed as an RN at the VA Hospital in Fargo, retiring in 1986.
LaVonne married William L. Carlson on June 28, 1952. They had 5 children; Terri (Jerry) Freitag of Coon Rapids, MN, Patti Steffan of Jamestown, ND, Bill (Janet Morken) Carlson of Apple Valley, MN, Tamie Carlson of Coon Rapids, MN, and Paul Carlson of Excelsior, MN. She had 10 grandchildren; Beth (York) Plagge, Scott Steffan, Laura Steffan, Erin (Matt) Nieland, Robin (Eric) Broen, Christopher (Kristin) Freitag, Camille (Richie) Ortiz, Sydney Carlson, Linnea Carlson, Cassidy Carlson. There are 9 grea-grandchildren Brock, Alex, Reid, Graham, Maya, Rhett, Ivy, Shepard, and Adley.
LaVonne was an excellent cook, enjoyed spending time at the lakes with friends and family and playing bridge. She was a Master Gardener for 25 years creating a yard that was a work of art. She was very active at Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Moug and Florence Bengston. Her brother, Morris (Mike) Moug. Her husband, William Carlson and her son-in-law Tom Steffan.
