LaVina Delores Weiler Morstad was born October 19, 1922 in Ashley, ND. She attended Ashley High School graduating in 1940. She taught school in a one room school house not far from Ashley.
LaVina met the love of her life, Ed Morstad while he was employed in the Ashley area. They married on January 17, 1942. They had 2 daughters, Judith Ann and Sandra Louise.
Her favorite past-time was singing and she sang for many events through the years. She also enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and dancing. LaVina was very active in church work, attending Circle, Altar Guild and was a bible study leader.
She was a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Her favorite vacation spots were Hawaii, Norway and Germany. Her fondest memories include: basketball and track in high school and singing in church choirs all her life.
LaVina died January 2, 2017 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids, MN.
She is survived by her daughters, Judie (Terry) Bradford, Granbury, TX; Sandy (Rolland) Ruff, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Kevin (Dana) Ruff, Scott (Corina) Bradford, Ty (Tara) Bradford, Todd (Mary) Bradford; great-grandchildren: Camryn and Carter Ruff, Michael and Caden Bradford, Hunter Bradford, Alex and Evan Bradford, Mesky and Zenash Bradford and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Ben Weiler; husband, Ed Morstad; sister, Estell Mayer; brother, Lloyd Weiler; grandson, John McMerty and granddaughter, Sarah Ruff.
