Laverne Stanley Schlosser, 87, died the evening of Tuesday, January 28, 2014.
Laverne was born Sept. 19, 1926 in LaBolt, South Dakota, son of Nicholas and Edna (Geisler) Schlosser; they later moved to Dickey, ND. After high school graduation he honorably served in the US Army during WWII first spending time in the Philippines as an investigator and later aboard the ships entering Japan.
Laverne was united in marriage to the late Marilyn Roscoe in 1947 in Aberdeen, SD. They lived in several places across North Dakota and Minnesota while he worked for 36 years for the Soo Line Railroad as a telegrapher. They finally settled in Fairmount, ND where he lived until 2007 when he moved to Fargo to live with his daughter. He spent winters in California and summers in North Dakota enjoying his passion for hunting, fishing, golf, sports and his family.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Dwight) Snider, Valley Center, CA; Janet Bricker, Escondido, CA; Frances Mosey, Fargo; Matthew (Donnel) Schlosser, Apply Valley, MN; one brother, Louis (Lovey) Schlosser, Lincoln, NE; 9 grandchildren, Nichelle (Robert) Grosvenor, Christopher (Shannon) Gaggia, Nick Snider, Jennifer (Ross) Gustafson, Noah Bricker, Laura (Casey) Chambers, Brianna, Emilee and Zachary Schlosser; and 6 great-grandchildren, Sierra Snider, Vivian and Jasper Gaggia, Julia and Jonah Gustafson, and Avery Chambers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Nicholas Schlosser
