Laverne Orma Halverson

LaVerne Orma Anderson was born in Mandan, ND, on March 19, 1920 to Olaf and Hazel (Thompson) Anderson. She moved with her parents from Mandan to a farm west of lake Melissa in Becker Co., MN. She attended country school near there before graduating from Detroit Lakes High School. She later attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND.

LaVerne met and married Hans A. Halverson June 26, 1946 in Fargo. LaVerne worked for Armour and Company and later Owned and worked with her husband at Tri State Auction company. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in the Ruth Circle and the prayer shawl ministry. LaVerne also was active with the Mothers of Minerva of the SAE Fraternity and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening and being with her grandchildren and family. Laverne and Hans enjoyed many summers at their lake home on lake Melissa and winters in Arizona.

LaVerne died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Bethany on University, Fargo, ND at the age of 99.

She is survived by her children Steve (Kay) Halverson; Patti (Ed) Morrow; J. Douglas (Sue) Halverson, all of Fargo; eight grandchildren, Mark (Catherine) Halverson, St. Louis Park, MN; Heidi (Peter) McDonald, Grand Forks, ND; Brian (Sara) Halverson, Fargo, ND; Steve Morrow, Maplewood, MN; Rick (Andrea) Morrow, Fargo, ND; Nick (Niki) Moorhead, MN; Ross (Laura) Halverson, Fargo, ND; Andrew Halverson, Fargo, ND and fourteen great-grandchildren; niece, Karen (Ken) Olson, Bonita Springs, FL; nephews, Alan Halverson, Fargo, ND and Paul (Katy) Halverson, Eden Prairie, MN.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hans, brother Warren (Bud) Anderson, and her infant brother Raymond.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Prayer Shawl Ministry or the Sons Of Norway Foundation.

The family sincerely thanks the entire staff of the memory care unit of Bethany On University for the loving care they provided LaVerne throughout her stay with them.
