Laurie Gibb-Perlenfein, 66, of Fargo, passed away peacefully at Essentia Health with family at her side on February 23, 2017.
Laurie was born May 1, 1950, in Grand Forks, ND, to Jerry (Jack) Knute and Denora Natwick. Later in 1950, George and Lorraine Gibb (Barnes) adopted Laurie from The Children’s Village, now known as The Village Family Service Center in Fargo, ND. Laurie graduated from Fargo South High School with honors in 1969. Laurie worked as a transcriptionist and coder for Dakota Clinic (Essentia Health) for almost her entire healthcare career. In July 2004, Laurie was reunited with her birth mother, where she learned she had 3 sisters and 1 brother, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Laurie enjoyed summers at Pelican Lake with family and friends. She was also a long time member of the Lady Eagles. Laurie also enjoyed playing golf, water skiing, and watching her son “little” George play hockey, and most recently, watching her granddaughter Bristol grow. Laurie loved life, her family, friends, many poodles, work, and all those who worked with her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lorraine Gibb; birth parents, Jack and Denora Knute; three uncles, Bob, Don and Dave Gibb, and four aunts, Jean McCulloch, Anne Rollins, Agnes Mork, and Jesse Beaton.
Laurie is survived by her son, George (Katie) Perlenfein; granddaughter, Bristol Perlenfein; brother Jerry (Dorene) Knute; sisters, Jacki (Jay) Omland, Kris (Chuck) Long, and Roberta (Alan) Votava and many nieces and nephews.
