Laurie Ann Dodd, age 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Sanford Hillsboro Medical Center. She was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on November 2, 1959, to Walter and Mardelle Kaste Schoenborn, the eleventh of their fifteen children. She grew up in Mahnomen, MN, and attended Mahnomen Public School and graduated with the class of 1978. She then went on to further her education at Staples Technical College, majoring in chef training. Laurie married Jeff Dodd on August 10, 1985, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen, MN. They made their home in Fargo and were blessed with three children: Jason, Corey, and Kayla.
Over the years, Laurie managed three 24-plex apartment buildings while raising three small children.
In 1994, she and Jeff started their own business, Lucky 7 Limousine, which later expanded to include Lucky 7 Taxi in 2001. Laurie served as the office manager and oversaw every detail of the business, from bookkeeping to hiring drivers.
Laurie had a great love for life and lived it to the fullest! She loved her husband, her children, and in recent years, her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She was passionate about many things, but one of the things she enjoyed the most was visiting and having fun with family and friends. Her two favorite places to gather were at South Twin Lake near Waubun, MN, and at their condo in Lake Havasu, AZ. She spent countless hours volunteering and chauffeuring her children while they were in school. She was involved in the PTA, a homeroom volunteer, a Cub Scout leader, coached her son's baseball teams, and spent many weekends attending hockey tournaments.
She loved to dress up, and her accessories were extremely important, including her bling jewelry and a hat from her large hat collection. Laurie loved Christmas which was evident by her large collection of Santas, including one that is six feet tall!
Her big heart, her laughter, her hugs, and her long phone visits are just a few of the many things we'll miss about our beloved Laurie.
