Larry E. Thiessen, 68, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 with his loving wife Joyce of 50 years and their pride and joy, their dog Bailie by his side. Larry died after an almost 2 year valiant battle with cancer.
Larry Eugene Thiessen was born July 3, 1944, in Fargo, North Dakota to Peter and Marcella Thiessen.
Larry grew up in West Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1962. Larry married Joyce Buchholz on March 28, 1963, in Washington, DC where they lived for the first two years of their married life. They moved back to Fargo in 1965 where they lived most of their life together. Larry was a hard worker and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He worked for a number of years for Federal Express until he retired in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, making several pieces of furniture which were enjoyed by his family. He also loved camping, played guitar, and reading about World War I. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead, Minnesota.
Larry is survived by his wife Joyce, children Todd Thiessen (Trish) Pearl River, LA, Angela Hurd, Becker, MN, Jennifer Marvig (Roger) Elko, New Market, MN, Cory Thiessen (Kelly), O’ Fallon, Illinois; as well as daughter-in-law Bonnie Nino-Turner (LeRoy), Wolverton, MN, sister Sharon Thiessen, brother Roger Thiessen, stepsisters Betty Olmstead and Frances Jenner, sister- in- law Delores Drake, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Etta Thiessen, brother Stanley Thiessen, sister, Beverly Gabriel, and his son-in- law David Hurd, two stepbrothers, three stepsisters, two nephews and one niece.
