Larry Cullen

Larry "Moon" Cullen, 83, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley Moon was born in Fargo on July 21, 1925, to John and Mae (Lucier) Cullen. He grew up in Fargo and was a graduate of both Sacred Heart Academy and the University of North Dakota. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943, and trained as a bombardier during World War II. He married Colleen Cronin September 14, 1948, at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. They would have celebrated sixty years of marriage next month. Moon enjoyed a 32 year career as General Agent with Aetna Life and Casualty, until retiring in 1987. In his leisure time, Moon loved sports, especially golf. He cherished his time on the golf course with family and friends. Those of us blessed to have known Moon will fondly recall his wise sense of humor, strength of character, and his invaluable gift for mentoring, both as a father and a friend. Moon is survived by his wife, Colleen; four daughters, Maureen (Greg) Ness, Fargo; Joey (Rick) Hertzenberg, Overland Park, KS; Kim (Ron) Niemeyer, Grand Forks; and Cheryl Cullen (Jeff Brown), Fargo; sister, Mary Marilyn (Bill) Gully, Santa Barbara, CA; brother, Dan (Elsie) Cullen, Fargo; eleven grand-children and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Michael; brothers, Richard, Monte and Jim. As a beloved husband, father and friend, Moon will be forever remembered.
