Kody Olmstead, 37, of West Fargo, ND, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

He entered this world on July 10, 1987 in Fargo, ND, born to Clint and Mary Jo Olmstead. He grew up in South Fargo, and later in West Fargo, graduating from West Fargo High School in 2005. Kody studied software and electrical engineering at NDSU and MSUM, and went on to work in engineering in the tech field.

Kody earned his black belt in Martial Arts in his youth, as their whole family was active in the practice. They also enjoyed many travels to the Black Hills as a family.

Kody and his brother, Kyle, wrote a book called "Tales from Van'Tellus" that they worked on together for many years before finishing and publishing.

Kody enjoyed anything in the areas of science and technology. He also loved cooking, Dungeons & Dragons, high fantasy, building computers, and doing research in a great variety of things that interested him.

Kody will be remembered as fun and quirky, with a witty sense of humor. He was very creative and had a big heart. He was kind and loving, and his hugs will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kody is survived by his father, Clint Olmstead; brother, Kyle Olmstead; grandma, Joyce Bjordahl; godfather/uncle, Todd (Linda) Bjordahl; uncles, Michael Bjordahl, Kraig Olmstead, Wade (Ilene) Olmstead, David (Barb) Johnson; godmother, Carrie (Jeff) Haug; cousins, Matthew Bjordahl, Ashley Bjordahl, Dakota Olmstead, Leif Olmstead, and Hanna Olmstead.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jo; grandparents, Lloyd Bjordahl and Pat and Marjorie Olmstead.
