Kimberly Martinson passed away at her home on April 22, 2013, at the age of 36.
Kimberly Ann Gronland was born in Ocean Springs, MS, on April 7, 1977, to Larry Gronland and Linda Coleman. She moved to Fargo, ND, when she was two years old and has lived there throughout her life, except when she left for college to study nursing. She graduated with a BA in nursing from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD in 1999. She also earned a degree in
legal nurse consulting soon after, and worked with several attorneys in the region.
Kimberly was a sweet and kind girl growing up, who loved horses and swimming. She was a member of the varsity swim team from 7th grade through grade 12 when she graduated from Fargo North High School in 1995. She spent her summer after graduation in Germany as a member of
the Students for International Exchange, and traveled throughout Europe with her German exchange family. She was a gifted student and nurse, working in critical care, the intensive care unit, and in emergency medicine.
She married Russell Martinson on October 22, 2004, and they made their home in West Fargo, ND. They have two young sons, Asher Mark and Kellan Rhys, ages 3 and 22 months respectively. She loved her sons and they were the joy of her life. She took hundreds of pictures of them as they
grew, and she shared them all with her extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kermit and Dorothy Gronland of Fargo, ND; Richard and Nathalie Coleman of Dassel, MN; and her uncle, Mark Gronland, Fargo.
Kimberly leaves behind her sons, Asher and Kellan; husband, Russell; mother, Linda, Fargo; father, Larry Gronland, Destin, FL; brother, Jason Gronland, Fargo; mother and father-in-laws, Lola and Melvin Martinson, Ellendale, ND; and many aunts, uncles, and beloved cousins.
