Kiel Robert Stieglitz, age 27, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Kiel was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota, on April 20, 1983, to Robert and Bette (Johanson) Stieglitz. That same year, he and his family moved to Fargo. He attended Hawthorne, Agassiz, Discovery, and graduated from Fargo South High School in 2001. He was a member of the South High Swim Team for six years and a state finalist in the last three. He worked as a lifeguard at Island Park Pool throughout his high school years. He graduated from Minnesota State Community and Technical College in 2004 with a degree in Computer Programming. After graduating from college, he worked for SEI of Fargo in tech support. He and Alicia moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin. He then began his career at Baldwin Area Medical Center (BAMC) in Baldwin, Wisconsin, as an Information Systems Technician. He was married to Alicia Rose Calkins, the love of his life for the past nine years, on April 16, 2010. Kiel and Alicia make their home in Woodbury, Minnesota. Kiel enjoyed working on their beautiful home, garden, yard, motorcycle, and his ‘98 milano red Honda Civic. His favorite escape was taking long walks through the park to the lake behind their home with Alicia and their dog, Pugsley. He is survived by his wife, Alicia Stieglitz; parents, Robert and Bette; sisters, Kristin Stieglitz Thiel, Fargo, ND, and Robin Stieglitz, Duluth, MN; grandmother, Alice Johanson, Devils Lake, ND; father and mother-in-law, Calvin and Rose Calkins, Fargo, ND; sister and brother-in-law, Kayla and Major Ralph Piper, Incirlik Air Base, Adana, Turkey; brother-in-law, Alex Thiel, West Fargo, ND; nephews, Conrad Thiel and Aleric Piper; niece, Kiera Piper, and his best friend for 23 years, Elliot Yeater, Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Funeral Service: 10AM, Saturday, June 5, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: 4-7PM, Friday, June 4, 2010, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Prayer Service: 7PM, Friday, at the funeral home.
