Kenneth M. McLaughlin, 85, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at his home. Kenneth M. McLaughlin was born March 6, 1922, in Fargo, North Dakota, son of Miles and Christine (Thorstad) McLaughlin. He attended Horace Mann and graduated from Fargo Central High School. He went on to graduate from North Dakota State University. Ken entered the North Dakota Army National Guard, 164th Infantry Regiment in February of 1941. He was stationed in the Solomon Islands for four years. Ken married Donna Holland December 26, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. For thirty years, Ken was an engineer for the Rural Electrification Administration (REA). He was a life time member of the American Legion, VFW and the Elks. He enjoyed a good cigar, his family and summers at the lake. Ken is survived by his wife, Donna; a son, Richard (Colleen); three daughters, Patricia McLaughlin, all of Fargo; Annie McLaughlin (Chuck Overcast), Whitefish, MT; Nancy McLaughlin (Al DuLay), San Francisco, CA; two brothers, Art McLaughlin, Arlington, VA; Jerome McLaughlin, Sun City, AZ; and a sister, Rose Pawski, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: Thursday, June 21, 2007, at 2 PM, at Hope Lutheran Church (North Campus), Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND. Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
