With profound sadness, we share the news of the untimely passing of Keith Allen Fiske, age 60, of Fargo, ND. On June 1, 2023, at Sanford Hospital, he succumbed to the devastating effects of a massive stroke, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled.
Keith was born February 6, 1963, to Boyd and Elaine Fiske in Fargo, ND. He graduated from Fargo North High School in 1981 and Moorhead State University in 1986. On January 16, 1999, Keith married Karen Norman, and together they raised Marissa Lyter-Hanson, who was like a daughter to him. His pride and joy was spending time with her and participating in HOPE Inc. events.
Keith’s professional journey began alongside his father at Boyd Fiske Construction, where he honed his skills and work ethic. When Boyd retired, Keith and his brother Gary Fiske seamlessly transitioned into leadership roles, carrying on the family business. Later, he embarked on a new chapter with Schmidt Brothers Construction, contributing his expertise and dedication. Since 2016, Keith has been a dedicated employee of Thorsteinson and Sons Construction, leaving his mark on numerous projects throughout the years.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Keith had a passion for sports. Whether it was cheering on the Minnesota Twins or the Vikings, his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. He also found camaraderie and competition through fantasy football, engaging in friendly rivalries with fellow enthusiasts. Physical fitness was a priority for Keith, who frequented the YMCA downtown, where he not only dedicated himself to maintaining a healthy lifestyle but also formed lasting friendships.
Keith loved to cook, especially during holiday gatherings, where he took pride in preparing delicious meals for his family. He had a strong work ethic and found joy in maintaining his yard and embarking on various home improvement projects. His friendly and caring nature extended beyond his immediate family, as Keith selflessly devoted his weekends to helping family, friends, and acquaintances, whistling and singing while he worked. When he found time to relax, he was with his dog, Henry. Keith was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, and friend.
Keith is survived by his wife, Karen; his special daughter, Marissa; step-children, Gretchen Pedraza and Shawn Pedraza; step-grandchildren, Brayton, Isabella, Ireland, and Zulayha; his mother, Elaine Fiske, Fargo, ND; and his siblings, Brenda (Lee) Paseka, Gary (Mary) Fiske, and Valerie (David) Blasczyk all of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Fiske.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
