Kathy Dehne, 91, Fargo, ND., died Friday, October 15, 2021, in Touchmark at Harwood Groves. Kathy was born July 28, 1930, in Soudan, Minnesota, to William and Nancy Gussner. She was raised in Jamestown, North Dakota, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1948. She attended Jamestown College, graduating with a B.A. degree in 1952. On December 21, 1953, she married Donald E. Dehne at the Presbyterian Church in Jamestown.

Kathy started her teaching career in Grand Forks, ND, at Roosevelt Elementary School from 1952-1954. She was the first mobile librarian in Stutsman County from 1954-1955. Then she and Don moved to Cogswell, ND, to teach for one year in the 1955-1956 school year. In 1956 they moved to Valley City, ND, where Kathy taught elementary school until 1960. In 1965 Kathy and Don moved to Fargo, ND. Kathy stayed at home with her two sons Jeff and Brad. Jeff was born in Valley City in 1961, while Brad was born in Fargo in 1968. Kathy then worked at Ben Franklin Junior High School as a library paraprofessional from 1975-1990, when she retired to take care of Don. Kathy was active in many clubs, including PEO, Women's Club of Fargo, Cass County Retired Teachers, Red Hat Darlins, Fargo North Faculty Wives, and the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo.

Kathy has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Grandma Kathy spent many hours spoiling her grandkids with candy, pancakes, and ice-cold pop at her home. She also loved attending all their activities, just as she had done for her two sons.

Kathy has lived at Touchmark since August 2013. She enjoyed socializing with friends, coffee, seeing her family, and taking in the outstanding music programs.

She is survived by her brother William P. (Sandra) Gussner, Chicago, IL; sister-in-law Dorothy Speidel, Jamestown, ND; brothers-in-law Doug (Lila) Dehne, Bismarck, ND; Duane Dehne, Bismarck, ND; sons Jeff (Mary Jean) Dehne, Fargo, ND; Brad Dehne, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Nathan (Kelly) Dehne, children Hadley, Miles, and Mason, Holly Springs, NC; Michelle (Cody) Cusey, daughter Natalie, Helena, MT; Alyssa (Alex) Kasak, son Henry, Dayton, OH; and Julia Dehne, Fargo, ND, and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, William S. and Nancy Gussner, and husband Donald E. Dehne.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorials to the University of Jamestown, William S. Gussner Scholarship, and the FM Area Foundation, Donald E. Dehne Scholarship.
